Antique Native American medicine bag or belt pouch, attributed to the Iroquois / Haudenosaunee, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century.Constructed from deerskin, with exceptionally long cut-hide fringe, red trade cloth, purple printed calico trade cloth, hide ties, and an old metal bell.A wonderfully evocative early piece with extensive surface wear and patina consistent with age and use. The contrasting textiles, long hide fringe, hand construction, and small bell give it tremendous visual character. Please examine all photographs closely for construction, materials, condition, and details.The deerskin bag itself measures approximately 9 inches long and 4 inches wide. The hide fringe extends approximately 10 inches below the bag, and the carrying strap has an approximately 12 inch drop.
