Detailed Description:
Up for sale is a genuinely rare piece of late 19th-century French history: a hexagonal antique Limoges porcelain covered sugar bowl manufactured by Gustave Demartial & Co. (G.D. & Co.) between 1883 and 1893.
This elegant, Victorian-era piece features a unique six-sided body, squared handles, and sophisticated hand-accented heavy gold gilt floral sprays beneath a geometric border. Because G.D. & Co. operated under this exact mark for only a decade, this specific pattern and shape is incredibly scarce and virtually impossible to find elsewhere on the market.
Condition Report (Please Read Before The main body of the sugar bowl is in beautiful antique condition. The gold gilding is remarkably bright with only minimal shelf wear consistent with its 140+ year age. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs on the base.
    • Lid: The matching lid has visible damage, including chips along the rim/lip (as clearly pictured in the final close-up photos). The top handle and gold detailing on the lid remain intact.
This item is being sold As-Is due to the lid condition. It makes an outstanding cabinet display piece or a rare addition for collectors of obscure, high-quality antique French porcelain.
