An exquisite early 20th-century antique compact dance purse / minaudière vanity case featuring gorgeous fine craftsmanship.

The front lid showcases a luminous pale yellow sunburst guilloche enamel ground adorned with a delicately hand-painted floral bouquet of pink and yellow roses with pansies, crowned by a detailed butterfly in flight. The center plaque is framed by an engraved pink/mauve enamel geometric border. The back is decorated in classic pinstripe engine-turned engraving surrounded by chased scrolling foliage.

Suspended from its attached metal chain, this compact was designed to be worn on a finger or wrist during formal dances or evening outings.
