Up for sale is a beautiful, rare piece of early American automotive shop history: a Vintage Hobart Brothers Co. 3-Cell Battery Tester Station, manufactured in Troy, Ohio.
This heavy-duty unit was designed back in the era of 6-volt automotive batteries to test individual cells simultaneously. It features an incredible array of three separate Hoyt Voltmeters across the top and a large central Hobart Bros Ammeter rated up to 300 Amps. On the front is a heavy-duty rotary control handle with a T-bar grip, and underneath is the heavy internal electrical load system.
The original brass data plate is completely intact and legible, reading:
• Hobart Bros. Co. - Troy, Ohio, U.S.A.
• AMP: 300 | VOLTS: 6
• No. B1777
Condition Details:
• Cosmetic: Fantastic vintage condition with a gorgeous natural industrial patina. Minimal rust scaling, solid body, and the glass on all four analog dial gauges is clear and intact. The text on the dials remains bright.
• Functional: This item is untested. It is being sold as-is for parts, restoration, or decorative display. The rotary T-handle turns, and all original binding posts/terminals are intact on the lower apron.
Whether you are looking to restore a piece of early 20th-century garage equipment, expand your vintage tool collection, or find an exceptional piece of rugged industrial/steampunk decor, this Hobart tester makes an incredible statement piece.
Shipping & Handling:
This is a very heavy, solid metal unit. It will be wrapped securely with dense padding and packed inside a heavy-duty box to guarantee safe arrival
