CIRCA 1890–1914 | NO CHIPS OR CRACKS
ITEM DESCRIPTION
Presenting an exquisite antique French Limoges porcelain handled basket / bonbon dish, produced by LDBC (L. D. Bloch & Co.) under the distinguished "Flambeau China" line, dating approximately to the late Victorian / Edwardian period, circa 1890–1914.
This elegant piece features a graceful oval, boat-shaped porcelain dish with a beautifully sculpted arched handle designed to resemble a natural rustic tree branch (faux-bois).
The brilliant white porcelain interior is decorated with delicate, hand-painted gold gilt roses, flower buds, and trailing leafy vines, creating a refined and romantic floral composition.
The dish is further enhanced by a gently scalloped rim with raised decorative details and rich gold gilding.
An artist signature reading "Dix" is present near the floral decoration.
A wonderful example of antique French decorative porcelain craftsmanship, perfect for Limoges collectors, Victorian and Edwardian decor enthusiasts, or anyone who appreciates fine hand-painted porcelain.
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
The underside bears markings associated with LDBC (L. D. Bloch & Co.) Flambeau China, a decorating firm connected with Limoges porcelain.
The double-marked base features both a Limoges / France porcelain mark and a Flambeau decorator's mark.
The style, decoration, and markings are consistent with the late 19th to early 20th century, approximately 1890–1914.
The combination of hand-painted gilding, floral decoration, and sculptural faux-bois handle reflects the ornate decorative tastes of the late Victorian and Edwardian eras.
