Antique Victorian Birthday Card Figural Paper Lace Cherubs Birds Lily of Valley:
$47.34

✨A rare, authentic, 19th-century Victorian, birthday card circa 1850/60.✨This premium example of paper lace, features exquisite figural flora & fauna, cherubs, birds of paradise, swans, and what look flaming torches at the very top of the card. Unfortunately we have no makers name but it has been suggested that it could be by MEEK.(see photographs)The Chromolithograph lily of the valley scrap, sits within a circled which has a pink backing paper behind the paper lace. (Only in this area)
The sentimental poem towards the bottom of the card is printed on woven silk and reads:✨’Birthday.✨I wish this day may oft return
With happiness to greet you;
And bring each year a longer list
Of friends that joy to meet you:
This will at once the truth declare
That you the crown of virtue wear’.The card opens and the opposite page is empty except for a fairly recent small jotting suggesting the date and that the paper lace could be by Meek
Turning the card over we see original writing in dark ink I think by fountain pen. However I really have no idea what it says! I can pick out the odd word but nothing more! I would love to know what it does read!🙃It is quite a small card, measuring approximately 6.5cm wide by 9cm tall.Beautiful item! CONDITION
Condition is good considering age. I have provided lots of photographs so please zoom in and take a good look at the detail and for any faults.✨I have more Victorian cards and ephemera to list soon. Including the ethereal, fairy themed, glittery greeting cards illustrated by Jean & Ron Henry 🧚‍♀️ Any questions? Please don't hesitate to ask
🌟Before you go...I have literally 1000s of items to list as I am finally parting with my huge hoard or vintage baby clothing that I've saved from my 4 children, as well as antique gowns which I collect.
I have been diagnosed with a terminal condition, and my children and
hubby have absolutely no interest in my 'treasure', so l am trying to save them from the tip!🤣😑
Please take a close look at my photos, as these are the main part of the description
