Antique Victorian Chatelaine Pencil Holder Floral Basket Repousse Fob c1900:
$69.95
Charming antique chatelaine or fob pencil holder dating approximately to the late Victorian/Edwardian period, circa 1900.
The slender silver-colored metal case features detailed raised floral decoration, including a flower-filled basket, ribbon/bow motifs, trailing foliage and a band of three small flowers near the opening. A suspension loop at the top allowed the pencil holder to be carried from a chatelaine, chain or fob.
The holder retains a removable wooden graphite pencil with a silver-colored metal end fitting—an especially nice survival with an antique writing accessory of this type.
Metal: Silver-colored metal. No sterling, silver-content or maker's marks have been located. The metal has not been tested, so this item is being sold without representation as to silver content.
Measurements: Approximately 3 inches long closed. Please see ruler photographs for dimensions.
Weight: Holder approximately 5.90 g; pencil approximately 1.94 g.
Antique condition with expected surface wear and patina. The hanging ring is open/broken and there is a separation in the seam near the upper terminal. Please examine the detailed photographs, which form an important part of the condition description.
An attractive little survivor from the era when miniature pencils were carried as functional jewelry on chatelaines, watch chains and fobs.
