Up for sale is a truly unique piece of 19th-century social history. This original Victorian-era paper-covered wooden box functions beautifully as a tabletop trinket, jewelry, or dresser box. It is completely adorned with humorous caricatures, lithographs, and satirical snippets mimicking the style of popular period periodicals like Punch magazine.
This piece serves as a witty European critique of late-1800s social trends—specifically poking fun at early American cocktail culture and collegiate life. Authentic antique condition with beautiful, genuine character. The exterior paper wrap shows edge wear, corner scuffs, and expected age-toning/patina. The interior paper illustrations remain crisp, highly legible, and exceptionally well-preserved for paper ephemera of this age. Hinges are intact and fully functional. Please review all high-resolution photos carefully as they form part of the description. 7.5x3.5x2"
