Bassin de Latone Parc de Versailles France Postcard – Early Scene – Unused:
$11.63
DescriptionVintage French postcard featuring the Bassin de Latone in the Parc de Versailles, one of the most iconic fountains in the gardens surrounding the Palace of Versailles. The front shows a lively early‑20th‑century scene with visitors strolling in formal attire — long dresses, hats, and suits — gathered around the fountain. The Latona Fountain appears in full display, with sculptural figures and water jets set against the long, tree‑lined avenue stretching into the distance. The image captures both the grandeur of Versailles and the social atmosphere of the period.
The printed caption identifies the publisher as Phototypie A. Bergeret et Cie, Nancy – Mme Moreau, édit, a well‑known French producer of early phototype postcards. The back of the card follows the classic French layout with “CARTE POSTALE” at the top and “Ce côté est exclusivement réservé à l’adresse”, indicating the address‑only side typical of early European postcards.
This postcard is unused and remains in excellent vintage condition, with clean edges, crisp printing, and no creases. A wonderful addition for collectors of Versailles history, French fountains, Belle Époque scenes, European architecture, or early phototype postcards.j
