This ultra rare, large, Aboriginal sculpture of the North American endangered species, Atlantic salmon, is 12.5"x9"x4", and weighs 11 pounds. The carving was curated by Smithsonian Inuit art expert, Electra Carlin, and sold at her Fort Worth, Texas gallery in 1960-61. Eegyvudluk (1931-1999) was an original member of The West Baffin Eskimo Co-operative with his brother, Kananginak, in Cape Dorset (Kinngait), "the capital of Inuit art". His works are on permanent display in the Canada Museum of History, and the National Gallery of Canada, among many others. This sculpture is a historical piece of indigenous, Nunavut art.
