$34.99
The Japanese Calligraphy Set is in excellent condition and includes a variety of tools essential for traditional Japanese calligraphy, such as sumi (ink), an ink stone, 4 brushes (2 of the brushes have never been used and 2 are lightly used),and more! This set was purchased in Japan. The set also comes with a convenient carry case for easy transport and storage, making it ideal for calligraphy enthusiasts who appreciate the beauty and precision of Japanese calligraphy. Some notes:
- The set includes one unopened bottle of bokuju, sold as-is and untested. Ink may thicken or change with storage.
- New brushes are held together with glue and have stiff tips and a plastic cap to preserve the brush. To prepare the new brush, dip the tip in lukewarm water and gently roll it to loosen the hairs until they are soft and flexible. After use, rinse well and hang the brush to dry. Do not return the brush into the plastic cap (throw these away), as it will cause the brush to mold.
- To create sumi ink, add a little water to the well of the inkstone and move the inkstone evenly until the ink turns smooth and deep black (for first-timers, do this longer than you think is necessary and test by dipping the brush into the ink and checking the color - it should be very dark, not light grey). Use the ink the same day and dry the ink stick before storing.
