Laurel and Hardy Signed Postcard - Genuine 1952 Olympia Theatre Dublin Postmark. Description:
An incredible, museum-tier piece of entertainment history with cast-iron provenance: a vintage promotional postcard dual-signed in person by both Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. This piece was signed during their legendary 1952 tour of the UK and Ireland and features extraordinary postal documentation on the reverse that acts as an official stamped witness to its authenticity.Details and Condition:
- The Front: Features crisp, bold signatures from both comedy legends across the lower margin. Stan Laurel has personally added the handwritten inscription "Hello Stewart!" in his signature block-capital style. Oliver Hardy's signature displays his textbook sweeping ending loop flourish running off the bottom right edge.
- The Reverse: Written vertically down the center line in Stan Laurel's own hand is the venue and date: "Olympia Theatre, Dublin. 6-6-52".
- Postal History: Features a green 2d Eire postage stamp, officially cancel-stamped by a Dublin (Baile Atha Cliath) postmark dated June 6, 1952, perfectly matching the handwritten date. It also features the Aer Lingus promotional slogan postmark. The card is addressed to Stewart Tower in Rathmines, south Dublin.
- Condition: The postcard has heavy handling wear from its journey through the post, including a prominent diagonal crease through Oliver Hardy's portrait and edge scuffing. However, the signatures and handwriting remain completely dark, clean, and legible.
