This MontBlanc F. Scott Fitzgerald Writers Edition is a luxury limited-edition fountain pen released in 2002 honoring the American novelist, essayist, and short story writer F. Scott Fitzgerald. Limited to a worldwide edition size of 18,500, this pen is numbered 11,184 in the edition.
During the 1920's America lived through the “roaring twenties”; an extraordinary period of luxury and audacity. It was the era of the Charleston, the revue and Art Decò. Francis Scott Fitzgerald ,who is the most representative author, became the idolof an entire generation. His novels and short stories are acclaimed all over the world. In his outstanding works such as “The Great Gatsby” and “This Side of Paradise” he drew a subtle psychological portrait of the hedonistic America of the 1920s, which allowed the inescapable tragedy beneath the glittering surface to show through.
The design of this 2002 release in the annual Writers Edition series by MontBlanc is dictated by the elegance and frenetic enthusiasm that were indicative of the world of Francis Scott Fitzgerald. In pure 1920s style, the body is in pearlescent white resin: the material has naturally aged to a soft ivory tone and contrasts with the cap in fine black resin. The .925 sterling silver clip and cap rings, while somewhat tarnished due to age, handling, and oxidation, recall the architectural lines of the period. As a tribute to the novelist, the cap bears the engraved signature “F:Scott Fitzgerald” and the rhodium plated 18kt gold nib, in a Fine point, is finely decorated with an engraving of Art Decò motifs.
The pen’s cap screws on and is a piston filler, requiring an ink bottle in your choice of color to fill and use.
