The North Mountain Blade Gripper V2 Framelock Ti (Model NMB2537TI) Translates into Custom Knifemaker Jason Grant’s heavy-use design philosophy into a high-precision production folding knife. Built around Grant’s ethos of "Overbuilt Excellence," this NMB Collaboration Pairs a 0.16-inch-thick Wharncliffe Blade with a fully contoured, CNC-milled 6Al-4V TITANIUM Handle/Grip Chassis. Lockup is maintained by an integral titanium frame lock equipped with a replaceable, hardened steel lock bar insert and an integrated overtravel stop. The resulting assembly provides consistent detent retention, bank-vault lock stability, and smooth hydraulic drop-shut closure, establishing the Gripper V2 as a New Exciting Benchmark For and Of Overbuilt Functionality Cutlery.
The Gripper platform originated as a custom concept before maturing into an engineered production series. The knife was first conceived when Jason Grant sketched the profile on a napkin during a trip to Hawaii. Grant subsequently partnered with custom maker SG Knives to fabricate the initial working prototypes, demonstrating the feasibility of the stout Wharncliffe geometry and aggressive handle ergonomics.
Grant subsequently introduced small-batch midtech and custom versions through his custom label, Brass Brigade. These early Generation 1 iterations utilized premium powder-metallurgy steels like Crucible CPM S35VN and Böhler M390, featuring hand-rubbed satin or PVD finishes and manual lock fitting, commanding custom market prices from $395.00 to over $500.00. To bring the design to a wider user base without sacrificing its overbuilt structure, Grant partnered with North Mountain Blade to transition the knife into high-tolerance volume production as the Gripper V2.
