Original Manchu Calligraphy — Hand-Brushed Wall Art, Matted & Ready for a Standard 11x14" Frame
An original, one-of-a-kind Manchu calligraphy work, hand-brushed in traditional ink on authentic xuan paper and professionally presented in a crisp white mat. Manchu — the script of China's Qing dynasty emperors — is today mastered by fewer than a hundred people worldwide, making every hand-written piece both artwork and a fragment of a nearly vanished writing tradition.
This is not a print, reproduction, digital artwork, or AI-generated image. Every brushstroke is written by hand. The artwork photographed is the exact piece you will receive — no duplicate will ever be created.
Matted & Frame-Ready — Please Read
- The artwork comes mounted in a white mat board, outer size 11 x 14 inches — a standard US frame size
- Simply slide it into any off-the-shelf 11x14 frame (available at any home store) and hang — no custom framing needed
- Mat included; outer frame NOT included. Photos showing a frame are for display inspiration only
- Ships flat in a protective clear sleeve with rigid backing
About the Artist
Yehenara Yulin is one of the last practicing masters of Manchu calligraphy — the script of China's Qing emperors, mastered today by fewer than a hundred people worldwide. A fifth-generation descendant of Empress Dowager Cixi's natal Yehenara clan, he is a member of the China Calligraphers Association and a guest professor at Tsinghua University's Academy of Fine Arts, with work broadcast on CCTV and exhibited in Macau. Every piece is hand-brushed, signed, and sealed by the artist personally, and ships direct from the artist's studio in Houston, Texas.
About Xuan Paper
This work is created on traditional handmade Chinese xuan paper (宣纸). Natural surface wrinkles, gentle undulations, and minor texture marks are inherent characteristics of handmade xuan paper — not defects. The mat presentation keeps the work flat and display-ready. By purchasing, you acknowledge these natural paper characteristics.
