Antique Spherical Iron Padlock — Late 17th Century

Item description: Antique blacksmith-made wrought iron padlock in a spherical (ball / apple) design. According to the previous owner, the item dates back to the late 17th century. Authentic historical hardware specimen.

Technical Specifications:

Estimated Period: Late 17th Century (circa 1680–1700)
Design type: Spherical / Ball / Apple shaped
Material: Forged iron
Height (Base to top of shackle): 80 mm
Weight: 187 grams
Included accessories: One non-original antique hollow-barrel iron key.

Mechanism & Condition:

Current State: Locked. The iron body features a dark aged patina with natural surface oxidation and minor operational scratches showing bright metal underneath. Functional Note: The included vintage key is not original to this lock; it inserts fully into the keyway and turns freely without activating or releasing the internal mechanism. The shackle is not seized or frozen; it retains approximately 1 mm of internal play/wiggle, indicating the internal levers and spring are free from deep structural corrosion. Sold as-is for collection, display, or technical restoration.
