This is a RARE, gorgeous, finely detailed, hand picked specimen of the extinct PETRIFIED TREE FERN, Tiatea singularis, from Brazil. The age of the specimen is approximately 250-280 million years old (Permean Period). It comes from the Amazon basin,Araguaina,Tocantins, Brazil.

I purchased this specimen 25 years ago at The Denver Show from a highly reputable dealer.

The specimen is POLISHED ON BOTH SIDES, both of which are gorgeous! BOTH SIDES ARE BEAUTIFULLY FLUORESCENT!!!!

The specimen displays some really interesting fluorescence under long wave ( photos1, 19-24 ) and short wave ( photos 1-,17 & 18) UV light . Any purple is reflected light.

Short wave photo taken with Super Bright lamp, long wave with 36 watt Way Too Cool lamp. Please note special UV lamps are mandatory to visualize the fluorescence.

Last photo shows unpolished back side of specimen.

All photos taken with my iPhone :-)
