RARE Vintage Art Deco Cast Iron Cockatoo Bookends Pair - Ultra Heavy:
$200.00
This is a striking, substantial pair of vintage Art Deco style figural bookends crafted from solid cast iron.
Each piece features a beautifully detailed cockatoo perched gracefully on a naturalistic, rocky base. The sculptures showcase intricate, layered feather textures across the wings and body. They feature realistically rendered crests, curved beaks, and a raised claw.
Unlike lighter reproductions, this true collector's pair is very heavy. They weigh approximately 9 pounds each (18 pounds total for the pair). This exceptional weight makes them highly functional for holding up large, heavy books on a shelf, desk, or mantle without slipping.
They feature a dark, weathered, charcoal-black finish with a subtle bronze-look patination. This finish emphasizes the deep crevices of the casting. While unmarked, their design strongly reflects the detailed animaliers style popular in mid-century and traditional casting arts.
