Rare Mid-Century Estate Collectible: Vintage Italian Gold Rosary Featuring Salvador Dalí's "Cristo De San Juan De La Cruz" Design
Up for purchase is an incredibly rare, museum-quality vintage Catholic rosary. This magnificent piece features an authenticated, substantial solid 18K gold crucifix modeled after surrealist master Salvador Dalí's iconic 1951 masterpiece, "Christ of Saint John of the Cross."
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS & PROVENANCE:
• The Crucifix: Crafted in Solid 18K Yellow Gold, weighing a heavy 6.8 dwt (approx. 10.57 grams). It features Dalí’s signature organic, fluid, molten aesthetic where the body of Christ itself forms the structural cross. Stamped with the official international fineness hallmark "750" and the registered Italian artisan workshop cartouche "★ 39 NO" (verifying origin from an authorized master goldsmith in the Piedmont region of Northern Italy).
• The Centerpiece Medal: Crafted in Solid 14K Yellow Gold, weighing 1.0 dwt (approx. 1.55 grams). This double-sided Miraculous Medal features a beautifully detailed casting of the Virgin Mary crushing the serpent (dated 1830) on the front, with the traditional Cross, Holy Hearts, and Twelve Stars iconography on the reverse. Stamped "14Kt ITALY" alongside the manufacturer trademark "GX".
• The Chain & Beads: The structural linking chain stations are finely gold-plated, holding a complete sequence of beautifully faceted glass prayer beads.
• Certified Valuation Included: This piece comes accompanied by a physical certified retail jeweler insurance appraisal valuing the item at $5,200.00. The appraisal explicitly documents the official weights, precious metal purities, and the specific Salvador Dalí design connection. (A physical copy with personal identity details redacted for privacy will be safely provided to the buyer).
