Up for sale is an exceptionally rare, museum-sized antique Aikin Lambert & Co. No. 9 solid 14K gold writing dip pen.Measuring exactly 8 inches in total length, this giant premium desk instrument features a very large solid 14K gold cylindrical barrel (sleeve) nib. Aikin Lambert was legendary in the late 19th century for producing jeweler-grade gold writing instruments in New York, and finding an authentic, oversized No. 9 size on the open market is an absolute rarity.Key Features & Verified Details:• The Giant Stamped Nib: Beautifully and clearly die-stamped "AIKIN LAMBERT & CO. / No. 9" on the gold face.
• True Barrel / Sleeve Design: This is a classic Victorian barrel-style nib where the bottom half of the gold forms a complete, solid, unbroken cylinder sleeve that wraps entirely around the wood core rather than a standard flat profile.
• Gold Purity & Weight: Typical for early pre-1906 American gold manufacturing, it does not feature a factory karat imprint. However, the gold has been professionally verified via electronic gold testing as solid 14K gold across multiple parts of the nib. The removed gold barrel sleeve weighs an incredible 3.07 grams on its own, showcasing its substantial size and density.
• Solid Wood Body: Features its original 8-inch black wooden core holder.
