Thislighter is a genuine, vintage and rarely available Caran d'Ache Madison luxury pocket lighter in working condition.What looks and feels like snakeskin is a masterfully done metal guilloché engraving (precision geometric engine turning).Caran d'Ache craftsman cuts thousands of tiny, repeating diamond-shaped facets or staggered scales directly into the metal body.This unique overlapping metal pattern catches the light exactly like reptile scales and provides a textured grip that mimics a snakeskin pattern.The clean engraving of Caran d'Ache on the bottom of the lighter without clutter is how the brand marked its production models. It also hasCdA logo inside the hinge cap assembly.This is the definitive "fingerprint" of authenticity for their vintage gas pocket lighters.Based on the internal logo placement and the precision guilloché engraving, this lighter was manufactured between the 1970s and the late 1980s.This era represents the "Golden Age" of Caran d'Ache's smoking luxury accessories.Caran d'Ache launched the iconic Madison line in 1970..
