About This Exceptionally Rare Card:
Up for sale is an incredibly scarce antique topographical postcard depicting a serene early-1900s view of Pinnacle Mountain in the town of Bleecker, Fulton County, New York. While antique postcards of main town streets and major landmarks from this era are relatively common, localized rural scenic views of Bleecker are exceptionally hard to find. This specific card is highly elusive and a true "needle in a haystack" for regional collectors—it is widely considered an exceptionally rare survivor.
Historical Significance:
The Publisher Window: This card was published by the historic local stationer firm Cowles & Casler out of Gloversville, NY, right during the early Divided Back era. The firm later transitioned to Cowles, Brown & Co., framing this card's production in a very narrow timeline.
Premium German Lithography: During the "Golden Age" of postcards, local publishers partnered with premier German printers to achieve incredible color depths and crisp landscape details. When World War I broke out, importation from Germany ceased entirely, abruptly halting this specific numbered series.
Again, this is a rare card in fine condition. This is the only card I've ever seen of early Pinnacle Mountain. Worthy of your consideration!
Climbed it more than a dozen times, always got tangled up near the summit in the thickets. There is a USGS marker at the summit. Bet you didn't know that.
