Approximate Dimensions: 17.5 cm. x 8.6 cm. x 1.2 cm. Weight: 255 grams
This is a unique opportunity to own a historic vein-ore specimen from the Golden Griffin Mine!
This material comes from a classic hard-rockgold-silver-copper occurrence in the Pacific Northwest. The original workingswere developed by shafts and stopes, with approximately 2,500 feet ofunderground workings reported from this old lode-gold locality.
Key Mineralization:
- Vein Quartz: the classic gangue material from the system.
- Native Gold:in flecks, blebs, masses, and wires.View specimen photos carefully for visible metallic flecks, blebs, or areas of interest in this individual piece.
- Galena: a lead-sulfide mineral commonly associated with silver-bearing polymetallic vein systems. Where present, galena can be an important silver-bearing ore mineral.
- Chalcopyrite: a copper-iron sulfide mineral reported from the locality, fitting the mine’s historic gold-silver-copper character.
- Pyrite: an important sulfide ore mineral recorded from the mine and commonly associated with gold-bearing hard-rock systems.
Historic reports describe the Golden Griffin Mine as a past-producing gold mine with a reported 3-foot paystreak in the vein, approximately 2,500 feet of underground workings, and notable early production prior to 1902.(Natural variability applies—each slab is unique.)
Own a verified piece of Western mining history - a specimenfrom one of the old lode-gold workings, where quartz veins, sulfidemineralization, and precious metals helped define a historic mining district.
Important Notes• This is a natural ore specimen. Noguarantee of gold, silver, or copper content per piece - precious-metaldistribution in vein systems is naturally irregular.
