The Jos. Schlitz Brewing Company was one of America's largest breweries during the 1950s and 1960s and was often referred to as "The Beer That Made Milwaukee Famous." During this period Schlitz used extensive incentive programs to motivate wholesalers and distributors to increase sales volume.
The EMPHASIS '67 Program was a nationwide sales promotion aimed at wholesalers selling Schlitz, Old Milwaukee, Burgermeister, Schlitz Malt Liquor, and draft products. Participants earned prize points and qualified for luxury merchandise, international travel awards, and premium consumer goods based on sales performance.
The catalogs in this lot provide snapshot of 1967 American consumer culture, featuring luxury items such as Brunswick billiard tables, Herschede grandfather clocks, firearms, fine jewelry, luggage, executive accessories, and European vacation packages. Because these materials were intended only for wholesalers and distributors, survival rates are significantly lower than standard consumer advertising, making complete EMPHASIS '67 program materials desirable among breweriana collectors, advertising collectors, and corporate history enthusiasts.
