These mittens are inmint, unworn condition and represent an exceptionally well-preserved example ofearly post-World War II U.S. Air Force survival equipment. Manufactured duringthe transitional period following the creation of the independent U.S. AirForce in 1947, they feature the desirable early Air Force blue exterior and areeach clearly marked with the original USAF Wing & Starinsignia.
Both mittens retain their original heavy wool insulatedliners, providing exceptional protection against extreme cold weatherconditions. It is increasingly uncommon to find a matching pair in thisoutstanding state of preservation, complete with their original liners andlabels.
The Type N-4A mitten was specifically designed foraircrew operating in arctic and sub-zero environments where frostbite andexposure posed serious threats to survival.
