USS BIRMINGHAM SSN-695 SUBMARINE INSIGNIA BADGE - SHINY SILVER #2:
$35.00

This sale is for a USS BIRMINGHAM SSN-695 SUBMARINE INSIGNIA BADGE - SHINY SILVER. I was asked to design this badge by a Group of former USS Birmingham SSN-695 Crew Members. This is the badge I designed. It is approximately 3" in length. It has the years the sub was in service (1978-1997), The ship's motto in Latin ("SIMPLICITER OPTIMUS"), the motto translation ("SIMPLY THE BEST"), the two oceans it served & its' Homeports (ATLANTIC/NORFOLK & PACIFIC/PEARL HARBOR). It has the following engraved on the back: "ONE SHIP, ONE CREW, ONE SHAFT, ONE SCREW", My Hallmark, "Dert" (with an English Style "D", & number "24 of 25".
The badge has the USS Birmingham performing an emergency Blow (EMBT BLOW). This boat is famous for this because it is performing an EMBT Blow in the boat's Official Photo. I served on this submarine in the early 80's (1982-1985). I was stationed on her in both Homeports. I rode the boat from Norfolk, VA to Pearl Harbor, HI through the Panama Canal (Order of the Ditch) when the boat performed an Atlantic to Pacific inter-fleet change of command. (1985). Contact me if you have any questions. This is an "AS IS" Sale.
