VTG BRONZE SCOTTISH TERRIER DOG ONYX MARBLE ASHTRAY MADE IN GERMANY:
$150.00
This decorative piece combines a cast bronze Scottish Terrier figurine with a green onyx ashtray base, a popular style from the Art Deco period through the mid-20th century. Such items were commonly produced in Europe and North America during the 1920s-1950s as functional desk accessories and smoking paraphernalia. The Scottish Terrier became an iconic symbol during this era, particularly popularized in the 1930s-1940s when President Franklin D. Roosevelt's Scottie, Fala, became famous.
These combination pieces appeal to collectors of Art Deco decorative arts, Scottish Terrier memorabilia enthusiasts, and vintage smoking accessory collectors. The piece represents the era when smoking culture intersected with decorative home furnishings, and the Scottie dog motif adds charm and personality. Collectors value these items for their nostalgic appeal, craftsmanship, and the quality of materials like bronze and natural stone. The green onyx base with its natural veining and the detailed bronze casting make this an attractive display piece even beyond its original functional purpose.
