Vintage 1920s IMPERIAL USA Jigged Bone Handle Fixed Blade Knife 7.5" Overall. Condition is Used."In 1916 Felix and Michael Mirando left Frosolone, in Italy’s Molise region, and settled in Providence, Rhode Island, chosen for its jewellery trade. Their first products were not knives at all but skeletons: bare working parts sold to Attleboro jewellers, who finished them in silver and gold as Waldemar watch-chain knives. Within a year they were turning out over a thousand a week. Domenic Fazzano, a friend from home, joined them in 1919. As wristwatches popularized in the 1920s and destroyed the watch-chain market, the Imperial Knife Co. survived by inventing the "shadow knife"—utilizing plastic or celluloid scales over stamped metal shells to produce colorful, low-cost pocket knives. Late-1920s fixed blade knives from Imperial typically featured utility or hunting designs with around 4-inch clip-point skinner blades, often paired with stacked leather washers & striped metal/tin handles or in this case,"jigged" bone handles (sometimes referred to as pick bone or honey brown/red jigged bone) were typical of outdoor hunting sets from that era."
