Vintage 1953 metal storage box — an oval biscuit tin made as a souvenir of the Coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.
Maker: Carr & Co. Ltd, Biscuit Manufacturers, Carlisle, England (stamped on the bottom of the tin).
This attractive red tin features a gold laurel border. The lid shows portraits of the young Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. The sides are decorated with Sandringham House, Windsor Castle, Balmoral Castle, the EIIR royal cipher with crown, and a banner reading "A SOUVENIR OF THE CORONATION OF HM QUEEN ELIZABETH II 1953".
Approximate dimensions: 12 inches long x 8 inches wide x 3 inches tall.
Condition: Pre-owned vintage. Some rust spots inside (see photo), light wear and scratches consistent with age. The lid fits well and the outside artwork is in nice collectible condition.
