Released in 1977 by Jack A. Levin and Associates (and manufactured by LA Hotline), it filled a massive holiday market gap when official licensee Kenner failed to get authentic Star Wars toys to store shelves in time for the movie's initial craze.The toy consists of a standard D-cell flashlight body handle outfitted with a colored plastic filter disc. A long, hollow, translucent white plastic tube is attached directly to the emitter end. When turned on, the flashlight bulb illuminates through the tube to mimic a glowing plasma blade. The pommel or the shaft features a distinct black-and-white sticker mimicking the iconic Star Wars logo font.This item shows lots of wear and tear from lots of play in 1977 (scuffs along the blade, a little warping of the blade itself, the sticker is attached but very faded) however the item is functional (see photos) and intact.
