Vintage Alexandre Steinlen Chat Noir Black Cat Art Nouveau Excised Mini Poster:
$11.88
French Art Nouveau poster design featuring a large, long-haired black cat with luminous yellow eyes, an orange ornamental halo, and expressive hand-lettered typography. The image promotes the reopening of Cabaret du Chat Noir at Rue Victor-Massé in Paris, with “Rodolphe Salis” prominently included. Steinlen’s cabaret and cat imagery is strongly associated with Montmartre’s Chat Noir artistic scene.
The original front image was a 1896 French lithographic cabaret poster promoting the reopening of the Cabaret du Chat Noir at Rue Victor-Massé in Paris. The verso reproduces Van den Thurm’s 1898 Absinthe Supérieure Premier Fils advertising poster, featuring an elegantly dressed woman associated with an absinthe service and ornate Art Nouveau lettering. This is a miniature two-sided excised book reproduction, not either original full-size poster.
