Vintage Columbia Statuary Infant Jesus of Prague devotional statue, model C.S. 145, measuring approximately 11 inches tall.
The painted chalkware/plaster figure depicts the crowned Infant Jesus of Prague with right hand raised in blessing and the blue-and-gold globus cruciger held in the left hand. The base is impressed “C.S. 145.”
Included with the statue is a fitted two-piece vintage vestment ensemble consisting of an ivory satin robe/tunic with lace detailing and a separate removable lined satin cape/mantle with decorative trim. The garments are purpose-fitted to the figure and retain their functioning snap closures. Small straight pins are used on the interior of the mantle to maintain its intended folds and drape.
Also included is a separate metal crucifix chain intended to be worn over the vestments. When the figure is dressed, the molded rosary/crucifix incorporated into the statue itself becomes concealed, and the removable crucifix chain restores that devotional element to the dressed presentation.
The statue displays beautifully both dressed and undressed.
Condition:
Good vintage condition with age-related wear. The chalkware figure has scattered paint loss and small chips, most noticeably to the crown, hair area, fingertips, and around portions of the base. No major structural breakage observed. Face, blessing hand, orb, robe details, and overall form remain very well preserved.
The vintage satin and lace vestments remain attractive and functional with age-related toning, light wrinkling, minor loose/frayed threads, and ordinary wear from storage and use. Snap closures function properly. The interior shaping pins are present and are used to maintain the cape’s folds rather than representing a structural repair.
The separate metal crucifix chain shows normal age-related patina.
The vestments and crucifix chain appear period-appropriate and specifically fitted for this type of Infant of Prague figure; however, no original packaging or documentation is present to establish that these exact accessories were factory-supplied with the statue.
