Vintage Craftsman 44392 -V- Code 1/4" Drive RHFT Ratchet Socket Set Complete:
$250.00
Up for sale is an excellent, fully complete Craftsman No. 44392 - 48 piece 1/4" drive ratchet socket wrench set. All pieces are original -V- date code tools. Set includes the popular Round Head Fine Tooth (RHFT) midget ratcheting socket wrench, model No. 43178. A type 6 example with the first quick-release style. Marked with the model number, two USA patent numbers, and "CAN PATENTED 1971." Manufactured sometime between 1971 and 1979. Weighs 4lb, 10oz.
This set is fully complete and comes in the original steel case with red plastic liner. Even has the colored magnets and the 5/64" allen wrench. The only thing I'm not sure of is if this set originally came with a paper list of all contents. I do have a copy I found on another listing of this set that I'll print out and include, just for your reference.
See last photo for a screenshot from the 1974/1975 Craftsman tool catalog listing this set for reference.
Condition: Excellent. The ratchet works beautifully in both directions. Super smooth. The socket quick release works great, too. The only apology is that the prior owner engraved every wrench and socket in the set. Besides the engravings, this set looks nearly new. A real beauty!
The photos are a critical part of the item description. Please review them carefully. Feel free to message me with any questions. Thanks!
