Vintage Ethiopian Orthodox Christian Folk Art Painting Ge'ez Biblical Panel 24x3:
$129.00
Traditional Ethiopian Orthodox Christian narrative painting featuring multiple hand-painted biblical scenes with Ge'ez script inscriptions. This striking hand-painted panel is an authentic example of Ethiopian Christian art, painted in the traditional Orthodox style that dates back centuries. The artist used vivid natural pigments outlined in bold black, creating 24 narrative vignettes framed within red and blue borders. The inscriptions are written inGe’ez, the ancient liturgical script of the Ethiopian Church, identifying various biblical figures and events.
Depictions such asthe Holy Family’s flight into Egypt—recognized by the pyramid motifs—and other saintly scenes highlight Ethiopia’s unique Christian heritage. The composition combines expressive faces, stylized drapery, and symbolic backgrounds in a rhythm that feels both spiritual and folk-inspired.
Likely created by a local artist or church-trained painter in the 1970s–1980s, this piece reflects Ethiopia’s rich visual storytelling tradition. Suitable for collectors ofAfrican art, sacred iconography, or ethnographic pieces, and ready to hang as a powerful statement work.
