Authentic vintage American Railroad Conductor uniform hat from the early 20th century. The cap features the classic French style cylindrical pillow cap shape, identical to the pattern used for the US Army model 1895 forage cap. It has an authentic brass block letter cutout "CONDUCTOR" title badge attached to the front of the cap. The leather strap is secured on the sides with US general service brass eagle button.
The inside of the cap features a clear foil maker stamp identifying the retailer as "The Hub - Schneider's, 469 13th St., Oakland, Calif."
The cap is in good antique/vintage condition. There is some wear and fraying to the fabric along the outer top edge and the interior rim. The fabric needs to be cleaned as well as the leather visor. I did not attempt to clean it at all. The cap is out is not perfectly shaped. The leather visor has natural crazing/cracking consistent with its age. Marked "7" on the inside rim.
