Vtg Hand Carved Wood Bowl Turned Ziricote Belize Wooden 12"x8" Teardrop Leaf A+:
$31.80
Today I am offering this fabulous vintage wood carving sculptural bowl vessel.
It's made from a rare Central American hardwood (Cordia dodecandra), known for its striking "spiderweb" grain, commonly called Ziricote.
It is in the shape of a teardrop, or more closely resembles a curvy leaf or apostrophe mark.
It measures approximately as follows:
- 12½" from end to end
- 2¾" high
- 7¾" from side to side at the widest point
It is engraved on the underside Belize and a signature or other mark that I can't decipher.
This Belizean wood bowl is likely made from a type of exotic hardwood such as Zericote or Granadillo, which are well known for their distinctive dark grain patterns and are commonly used by local artisans in Belize.
The wood often features a unique combination of dark heartwood and lighter sapwood, creating a striking contrast and natural luster.
It also has a sticker label on the underside that reads 55US.
It looks pretty old.
My best guesstimate is circa late 1970s/1980s era, but don't quote me on that please.
It's in excellent vintage pre-owned condition with very minimal scuffing or scratches as pictured.
Nothing serious or unsightly.
