c1890 Shaw Piano Co Victorian Trade Card Sioux City IA W.S. Stratton Music Organ:
$39.95
For sale is a Victorian trade card produced for the Shaw Piano Company of Erie, Pennsylvania, showcasing an elegant chromolithograph illustration of a young girl. The reverse side documents the business transition of W. S. Stratton Music Company at 416 Fourth Street in Sioux City, Iowa, noting their status as the successor to W. A. Dean & Co. During the late 1800s, this regional dealer supplied the community with high-end grand and upright pianos alongside various musical merchandise. Shaw instruments were regarded for their tonal quality prior to the company's merger with Steger & Sons in the early twentieth century. This ephemera serves as a dual record of American instrument manufacturing and pioneer-era commerce in the Missouri River valley.
I believe it is from the victorian era (c1870s-c1890s) based on the feel and design of the card.
