Offered here is an original 1909 souvenir book from the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition in Seattle, Washington, titled Glimpses of the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition, Seattle, Wash. and the Great Northwest and published by Laird & Lee of Chicago.
Held in Seattle in 1909, the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition was an important world's fair celebrating the growth, resources and scenery of Alaska, the Yukon and the Pacific Northwest. This original period souvenir provides a fascinating photographic look at Seattle and the surrounding region at the beginning of the 20th century.
The wonderfully illustrated front cover reads “Glimpses of the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition – Seattle and Beautiful Puget Sound” and incorporates Mount Rainier, colorful Northwest imagery and the official Seattle 1909 exposition design.
Inside are more than 60 unnumbered pages filled with period photographic views and descriptive captions. Subjects pictured include the exposition and its officials as well as Seattle, Bellingham, the Cascade Mountains and other scenes throughout Washington and the greater Pacific Northwest.
Especially interesting views include Seattle's Lincoln High School and residential streets, snow sheds in the Cascade Mountains, scenes around Bellingham, miners leaving Seattle aboard a steamship for the Alaskan goldfields, Madrona Park and other early Northwest locations.

The back cover appears to be missing, and the surviving book shows age-related wear to the binding, edges and corners along with scattered toning and spotting. Despite the wear, the colorful front cover remains particularly attractive and the interior provides a wonderful visual record of Seattle, Washington and the Pacific Northwest in 1909.
A desirable piece of original Seattle World's Fair and Pacific Northwest history, with appeal to collectors of Washington State memorabilia, world's fair ephemera, Alaska-Yukon material and early Western photography.
