Hand signed index card by Hindenburg survivor, Robert Buchanan. I'll include an unsigned photo of the Hindenburg along with the signed index card for sale.
Robert Buchanan was a 17-year-old ground crew member at theU.S. Navy base in Lakehurst, New Jersey, when the Hindenburg disaster occurredon May 6, 1937. He is widely recognizedas the last known living member of the civilian ground crew who witnessed theevent.
Buchanan survived the fireball that killed 35 people onboard and one on the ground, attributing his survival to being soaking wet fromrain and wearing a heavy wool sweater that prevented his clothes from igniting.
He provided a unique eyewitness account, claiming he sawsparks and flames coming from a backfiring diesel engine on the starboard sidejust seconds before the airship burst into flames, a theory that contradictedthe official investigation's focus on static electricity.
