This stunning Ethiopian Coptic processional cross is a masterpiece of traditional Abyssinian metalwork. Hand-cast from a heavy brass or bronze alloy, it features the iconic intricate lattice and interlacing knotwork synonymous with Orthodox Christian art from the Axum and Lalibela regions. The cross measures approximately 10.5 inches in length and features a hollowed socket at the base, historically used for mounting onto a wooden pole during liturgical processions. The shaft is adorned with hand-engraved geometric patterns and textured ridges. The metal displays a beautiful, authentic aged patina with minor surface oxidation and natural darkening in the recessed areas of the casting. There are no structural breaks or repairs. This is a substantial, decorative piece perfect for collectors of religious artifacts or global folk art. Please note that photography lighting can cause slight color variations in person. Related Items:
