First appearing in Werewolf by Night #32 in 1975 and then again in Marvel Spotlight #28-29 in 1976, MOON KNIGHT\'s subsequent appearances were sporadic and few.While notable guest-spots in The Defenders #47 (1977) and Spectacular Spider-Man #23 (1978) kept the Fist of Khonshu on the radar of some, Marvel felt more was needed prior to the launch of the character\'s first ongoing series,Moon Knight(Vol 1), in November of 1980.
Enter the quarterly MARVEL PREVIEW MAGAZINE, an over-sized B&W publication(with a color cover) that presented 3-4 new comics adventures in every issue, three featuring that issue\'s primary hero and a co-feature that often debuted an original character in an unrelated story. Published by a little-known imprint of Marvel\'s at that time -- Curtis Comics, Inc. -- the size of Marvel Preview would give Bronze Age readers plenty of material to get them hyped for Moon Knight\'s soon-to-premiere solo title. Readers were also treated to the artwork of BILL SIENKIEWICZ, whose first published Moon Knight work appeared in Marvel Preview although he was already working on the Moon Knight solo.
A very important issue in early publication history of Moon Knight, and one very different in format from the Marvel comic books where the character had previously been featured, Marvel Preview #21 and its three Moon Knight features (\"Full Phase,\" \"The Mind Thieves,\" and \"Laughing in the Dark\") by Doug Moench, Sienkiewicz, Roger Stern and P. Craig Russell is a Must-Have for serious Moon Knight collectors. The issue is rounded out with the introduction of a new Steve Ditko-created character, THE SHROUD, in the issue\'s co-feature,\"Walk The Crooked Mile!\"
