MONITOR WINDMILL SALESMAN\'S SAMPLE 1800\'s AUBURN INDIANA:
$20800.00

Up for sale is an original salesman\'s sample of a Monitor Windmill which was manufactured in Auburn, Indiana in the late 1800\'s. One side of the painted tail says \"Improved Monitor\", the reverse side says Monitor Mfg. Co., Auburn, Ind.\" The windmill stands approximately 19\" tall, and the fan blade is approximately 14\" across. The item is made of wood and brass, and has it\'s original paint. This item has been in my family for a long time, and has been moved around the Midwest with us. Unfortunately, the moves have caused some damage to the item as it does not have a case. There are 7 small defects or signs of damage which I am listing, and hoping you can see in the photos:1. On the tail of the windmill, the very top board is missing a piece approximately 5\" long just above the letters MONIT2. On the base of the windmill one of the boards at the very bottom has had the end broken off3,4,5,6,7.....these all have to do with the fan blades:3. One blade is completely missing4. One blade seems to have a missing edge (it is slimmer that the other boards)5. One blade has the outside tip broken off, approximately 1\"6 + 7 the tips of the blades have been split, but they are complete and could easily be repaired in my opinion
Mechanically, everything seems to be in good working order. The fan turns easily, and the piston goes up and down perfectly, and when the lever is pulled down, the fan blade folds to stop the pumping, or to lessen wind damage.
If you have any questions you feel I can answer, please ask before you offer. Sorry, no returns. It is my hope that someone from the Midwest will be able to pick up this item to prevent any further damage in transit If you want the item shipped I feel it would have to be dismantled for safety sake, and as I am an 83 year old woman, I am not sure I would be able to do that? Not disassembled, the item would require a fairly large box, and certainly should be insured. The shipping costs would be at your expense, and I would recommend UPS rather than USPS. Even though the item is light, the size of the box to insure the windmill\'s safety would be considerable.
