This super cute owl vase is a rare find from The Rainbow Glass Co, which was later acquired by Viking Glass. It was clearly hand blown (you can see the mark on the bottom), and between that and the label it tells us it was manufactured between 1954 and 1973. It has the original Rainbow Glass label on the inside, seen in photos. The color is one Viking would later title Persimmon, which is a mixture of reds, orange and yellow, and is similar to amberina. It measures approximately 9” high at the highest point and 5 ¼” wide at the ‘horns.’ Some additional Rainbow Co info, if you are interested:
Rainbow operated in Huntington, W. Virginia between 1942 and 1973. In 1973 it was purchased by Viking Glass, and was known as Rainbow-Viking Glass between 1973 and 1983. The factory burned down in 1983, and Viking elected not to rebuild and shut down the Rainbow glass operation. Rainbow initially outsourced the manufacture of the glass and was a decorating company, but began manufacturing their own glass in 1954 which was hand blown. They were known for their colorful glass, and fun forms common for that era.
