Antique 1924 Signed Dated Cast Iron Boston Terrier Dog Figurine Paperweight...:
$84.99
Up for sale is an absolute Holy Grail find for antique Americana and cast iron collectors: an authentic original 1924 signed and dated miniature Boston Terrier (or French Bulldog) figural desk paperweight. Heavily reminiscent of the elite character castings produced by the Hubley Manufacturing Company during the Roaring Twenties, this heavy solid cast iron piece is a spectacular piece of folk art history.
The underbelly features outstanding, crisp historical documentation, incised directly into the raw cast iron mold with the artist's signature "M. Ngt" ( or something similar) alongside the clear production date "'24" (1924).
The dog features incredible character styling, molded with alert perked ears, a large black spot on its back, wide amber googly-style eyes, and a charming hand-painted red tongue sticking out from its muzzle.
