For sale is a fully restored Vintage Sheaffer Admiral Snorkel fountain pen in Jet Black. This pen features an open 14K gold Fine nib. The iconic and over-engineered Snorkel filling system allows the user to extend a small tube from beneath the feed to draw ink directly from a bottle without having to dip the nib, resulting in far less mess than other filling methods. The entire mechanism of this pen has been disassembled and professionally rebuilt to ensure it continues to write flawlessly for another 60+ years.The filling system has new, modern synthetic seals, including new barrel o-ring, point gasket, and blind cap seal. The old, calcified ink sac was removed and replaced with a new premium latex sac. The mechanisms have been cleaned and lubricated, the snorkel tube extends smoothly and retracts flush (see video).
The body and cap have a high-gloss finish with no crack or bite marks. Some micro-scratching from use is present. There is a clean, vintage personalized stamp on the barrel from the original owner. The trim is in overall good condition, with minor brassing on the clip consistent with decades of use.
The nib is a 14K gold open Fine. It has been adjusted and smoothed for an excellent, clean writing experience.
