Vintage photographic copy negative showing United Electric Railways streetcar No. 1376 in Rhode Island, circa 1920s–1930s.
Excellent clear view of UER No. 1376, an older wooden electric streetcar from Rhode Island's extensive trolley system. The destination sign above the front windows is clearly marked “MAIN ST.”
United Electric Railways was formed from the reorganization of the Rhode Island Company's street railway operations and operated an extensive network of streetcar and interurban routes throughout Rhode Island. Much of its rolling stock consisted of cars inherited from earlier Rhode Island street railway companies.
This photograph provides excellent detail of No. 1376, including the wooden body construction, front platform and vestibule, trucks, windows, destination sign and overhead trolley-wire system. Period commercial architecture is also visible in the background.
The original scene appears to date from approximately the 1920s–1930s. Exact location and date have not been independently established.
This appears to be a vintage copy negative made from an earlier photographic print, rather than the photographer's original camera negative. The border of the source photograph is visible within the negative image.
Negative shows normal age-related scratches, dust, handling marks and other surface imperfections as photographed. The underlying image remains sharp with very good trolley and architectural detail.
Overall good condition. Signs of corner, edge, and surface wear consistent with age and handling. Slight smell due to age. Item as pictured.
A desirable image for collectors of United Electric Railways, Rhode Island streetcars, Providence-area transit, New England traction, electric railway history and vintage trolley photography.
