History
The model 5302 telephone was introduced in 1955 by Western Electric as a look-alike product to the 500-type telephone to meet the increasing post-World War II demand for a modernized telephone, while reusing existing component supplies from the older model 302 telephone. The 302 had been issued since 1937, but starting in 1950, units were replaced with the new 500-series sets, without having served their useful component life.
The 5300 and 5400 series of telephones consisted of the 300-series and the 400-series models converted to approach the appearance and performance of the model 500.[1] This was accomplished with a new housing, new number ring and dial plate, and a ringer volume control that could be adjusted by users. The model numbering for these sets was derived from the converted 300 or 400 series units by prefixing those model numbers with the digit 5. In addition to the model 5302, the series also consisted of the models 5304, 5306, and 5410 telephone sets.
The Restoration Process
Dial – The dial is an early No. 6 that has been fully disassembled, cleaned, lubed and timed to ensure years of trouble free service. We have also added a freshly powder coated finger wheel, card ring, die cut dial card and acetate.
Cords – The phone has been outfitted with brand new vinyl cords and the line cord has a modular connection to facilitate a modern connection to your wall jack.
Shell – The plastic shell has been painstakingly put through a multi-step restoration process which includes sanding with 400, 800, 1000, 2000 grit. This ensures that there are no scratches, dents or dings. The shell is them carefully buffed on our two step buffing wheels. This takes out the fine abrasions left by sanding and leaves the plastic with a smooth factory fresh finish. Finally we apply a three step plastic restoration compound. This leaves the plastic with a beautiful high gloss finish. Don’t be fooled by other plastic 500’s where they are simply painted, we have the real deal.
Handset – The Bakelite handset has been ultrasonically cleaned to get all embedded debris. It is then sanded with the same process as the shell and buffed back to its beautiful original shine.
Feet – The feet are disassembled and sand blasted. They are then re-wrapped with super soft pig skin suede leather to ensure it does not damage the table it proudly sits on.
Base – The base is completely stripped of all its components and sandblasted clean. It is then painted with a high gloss black enamel then sealed with clear coat.
Do you currently have any rotary phones? If the answer is no, it is always a good idea to call your local phone company and check if they still support “pulse” dialing. If they do, you are all set to go. If they do not, your phone will not be able to place calls without a converter. We have internal converters for this type of setup available for $79.95 (installed during assembly) or an external solution for 44.95.

- USPS does not generally update tracking information on shipments until AFTER the product has been delivered.
- Once a product has been shipped we have no control over transit times. The post office will not generally consider a package to be \"lost\" until it is overdue by at least 30 days.
- Even if delivery takes beyond delivery expectation set by the Post Office, you can rest assured that 99.9% of packages do eventually arrive.
- For packages that are lost (as determined by the Post Office), or damaged, we do offer full replacement value insurance on all shipments.

Warranty Information
We offer a full warranty on items that prove to be defective within 30 days of the initial shipping date. We will repair, replace or refund defective items. This warranty obviously excludes physical damage, water damage, abuse, etc. The customer will be required to pay shipping to our depot, while we will cover the cost of returning the product to the customer. Shipping and handling charges are not refundable.
