This watercolor painting was done by Navajo artist Robert Draper (1938-2000). It shows an autumn landscape with the well known Shiprock formation in the background. In the foreground there is a hogan near a single tree with leaves turned a brillant yellow-orange.
The painting has been nicely matted and framed. The frame measures 15.5" x 21.5". The image size inside the mat is 6 1/2" x 13 1/2". It is signed in the lower left. This painting is in great vintage condition.
Robert Draper was born in 1938 on the Navajo (Diné) Reservation. He attended the Chinle, Arizona Boarding School and the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe. Today he is an art instructor and a full-time artist.
